WHAT TO EXPECT

The opportunity will be to work as part of Stamping ME team the role will be diverse & dynamic and will present a number of opportunities to develop and lead the business forward. One of the main responsibilities will be lead / mentor a number of engineers within the group.

As a Lead Planner, you\'ll be responsible for specification and procurement of tools, operating from the start of Vehicle design through to final commissioning and sign-off in JLR\'s nominated press facility. Working closely with Tooling Engineer\'s and our Purchasing function to establish a viable timeline and plan for any assigned portfolio of Press Tools. You\'ll manage progress and deliver press tooling into the press facilities, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, timing and cost targets. Operating at the subject matter expert on your assigned tooling portfolio, providing regular updates against key metrics to the management team. You\'ll drive the best possible outcomes by ensuring that the design phase maximises panel quality and overall hits per hour. Part of your content will be to lead other Engineers and their content of work as outlined above

You\'ll establish professional relations with product design, MPM, DMBI, BIW, press shops and tooling vendors to ensure robust management for engineering change with minimal impact to project outcomes. You will also strive to ensure all tooling complies or exceeds with business standards as you\'ll have responsibility for all aspects of panel dimension and cosmetic quality in our body construction areas. You\'ll help establish and report on KPI\'s with the Tooling & Process delivery Manager and ensure that any learning and improvements ae shared within the function of Fenders.

As a Lead Planner, one of your key roles will be to have the ability to not only modify, but create press tool designs, within Catia, and have the ability to teach and train your peer group, and the engineers you would be responsible for.

You will work with programme management/co-ordinators and Purchasing Group to establish and agree on a viable timeline and plan for an assigned portfolio of press tools and will operate as subject matter expert and \'owner\' of an assigned portfolio of tooling, providing regular, structured updates on performance, quality, timing and cost. You will drive for best possible tooling outcomes by ensuring that the design phase maximises panel quality and overall \'hits per hour\' performance as well as establish a professional, engineering interface with product design and tooling vendors to ensure robust management of engineering change with minimal impact to the project outcomes.

Other Responsibilities and Accountabilities will include:

  • Timing Plan, control across all program\'s
  • JERA & Cost Control, across all program\'s
  • Pre E-0 - JOB1 + 90, clear direction and support at both the Up Front and Delivery stages of all program\'s
  • GD&T - Delivery / Understanding, prior to FDJ CAD Release, liaising across all functions for agreement.
  • Dash Board Report, delivery to management team when required.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

As a Tooling & Process Delivery Lead Planner, you will have strong people skills and a good level of business acumen. You will have previous leadership experience ideally within an engineering function as well as previous press operational experience. You will be able to deal with complex situations and offer clear navigational paths through them for yourself & team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:
  • A thorough understanding of press tool through from design, methods and technologies.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with key processes, facilities and technologies used throughout the pressed parts process chain.
  • Excellent understanding of part forming techniques, to support the Concept Feas team.
  • Excellent Excel, PPT and reporting skills.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
Desirable:
  • Understanding of Panel Cosmetic concerns
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD Software tools, Catia, Autoform, and the ability to update tool Designs during the programme
