Ledbury Youth Spaces is a dynamic project dedicated to providing activities, development, and support for young people aged up to 24 in and around Ledbury. Our mission is to create spaces and opportunities that are directly informed by the views and needs of the local young community.
The Lead Youth Worker will be central to the delivery, growth, and quality assurance of this vital youth provision, ensuring a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all participants.
Normal working hours are 12pm-6pm Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities
The Lead Youth Worker will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of the Ledbury Youth Spaces project, focusing on group work, individual support, and strategic development.
1. Group Work and Delivery
Lead and/or attend all regular groups and activities run by Ledbury Youth Spaces (e.g., Skate Jam, Impact Youth Group, Filmmaking, etc.), ensuring high-quality, engaging, and purposeful sessions.
Act as the senior point of contact during group sessions, overseeing the work of sessional staff and volunteers.
Facilitate sessions that encourage personal and social development, active participation, and youth leadership.
2. Case Management and Individual Support
Hold a small, targeted caseload of young people requiring more intensive, one-to-one support or mentoring.
Develop and implement individual support plans, setting achievable goals and acting as an empathetic guide for young people facing personal challenges.
3. Project Management and Development
Take lead responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and smooth running of the Ledbury Youth Spaces project.
Manage resources, scheduling, and logistics for all activities and events.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current programs and identify opportunities for new youth-led initiatives.
Ensure all project activities align with the youth-led ethos of the organisation.
4. Safeguarding and Professional Practice
Ensure the project adheres to the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection, acting as the project's Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with data protection policies and funding requirements.
Be responsible for Health and Safety on and offsite during all activities
Work independently in planning and managing the project workload, while also collaborating effectively as part of a wider team and with partner organisations
Person Specification:
Essential Experience & Knowledge
Project Experience: Proven previous experience of running projects or managing youth programs from conception through to delivery and evaluation.
Youth Work Experience: Substantial previous experience of working with young people in an informal education or youth setting.
Safeguarding: A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles, policies, and procedures, including a commitment to continuous training.

Independent Working: Ability to work independently, showing initiative, excellent organisational skills, and strong self-motivation.

Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet the demands of the youth timetable.
