A specialist school in Bodmin is seeking a compassionate and committed Learning Mentor to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone experienced in working with young people facing challenges in mainstream education.
About the Role:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils aged 7-16 with SEMH needs.
Mentor students to help develop emotional regulation, confidence, and positive routines.
Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals to deliver a consistent, supportive environment.
Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour and engagement.
Encourage a respectful, inclusive, and safe learning space.
Requirements:
Essential:
Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) or behavioural challenges.
Desirable:
Previous work in SEN schools or Pupil Referral Units; understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or restorative approaches.
