Tradewind are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant, LSA, for a Further Education setting in Manchester.

About the role:

• Learning Support Assistant at FE college in Manchester.
• Supporting post 16 students with a variety of additional needs including Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Sensory impairment or medical needs.
• Start September 2023.
• Full time and long term, will turn permanent for the right person.
• Hours will likely be 9am-3:30pm although there may be some variation.
• Pay up to \xc2\xa313/hr depending on experience.
• You will be required to support students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
• You will need to provide nurturing and caring support for the students physical, emotional, behavioural as well as academically.
• Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Learning Facilitator, Learning Support Assistant, LSA, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or Residential Support Worker is required.

• This Learning Support Assistant role comes under the Inclusion department.
• Staff promote independence, enthusiasm for learning, confidence and courage in their pupils and this is the basis on which pupils are able to achieve.

About the pupils:

• Students are aged 16-19.
• There are students from all walks of life with differing backgrounds etc.
• Several students have Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs, SEMH, and need regular 1:1 support.
• Some pupils come from vulnerable and challenging backgrounds so you will need to be empathetic to this situations and give pupils lots of time and space.
• Other students require support with numeracy, literacy, comprehension, sensory needs, physical or medical needs.
