to join our in-house production team at our glass manufacturing facility at Hawick in the Scottish Borders . You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fully automated production line and all ancillary equipment. Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine planned preventative maintenance on automated production line machinery and support equipment.
Respond promptly and effectively to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing faults to reduce production downtime.
Maintain and improve equipment reliability through proactive inspection and repair.
Assist in the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of new equipment.
Ensure compliance with all site safety standards and maintenance procedures.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and report regularly to management.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify areas for continuous improvement.
Contribute to spare parts management and stock control.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Experience in fault finding and working with automated production equipment (PLC experience advantageous).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance.
Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Qualifications
Recognised engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled engineering.
Additional training in PLCs, automation, or specialist equipment desirable.
