As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our food manufacturing facility. Working a
4 on / 4 off shift pattern (6am-6pm)
, you'll be responsible for executing, monitoring, and recording all maintenance activities -- from planned preventive work to responding quickly to breakdowns and following up on corrective actions. You'll deliver a high-quality maintenance service to production, ensuring all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with our maintenance strategy. This hands-on role is vital to maintaining consistent production performance, equipment reliability, and the highest standards of food safety.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Carry out preventive and condition-based maintenance across production equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Support production teams to achieve performance, efficiency, and uptime targets.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and update the CMMS system.
Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment.
Ensure cost-effective maintenance and timely ordering of spare parts.
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to other team members and apprentices.
Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager and across shifts.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-skilling activities.
Food Safety & Health & Safety Responsibilities
Adhere to all Food Safety, GMP, and hygiene policies at all times.
Follow lockout/tagout and site safety procedures; never bypass safety systems.
Report equipment faults, hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
Wear required PPE and maintain high personal and workplace hygiene standards.
Support audit readiness and compliance with all site and legislative regulations.
Work safely, responsibly, and professionally in a fast-paced production environment.
