Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and motivated

Maintenance Engineer

to join our busy

Maintenance Department

within a bespoke lens manufacturing facility.

About the Role

This role involves a mixture of

planned preventative maintenance (PM)

and

reactive maintenance

on bespoke lens manufacturing machines.

Surfacing Department

- machines cut and clean the lenses to prescription.

Coating Department

- machines apply a variety of specialist coatings as per customer requirements.
Knowledge of the machines and processes will be taught primarily through

cross-training with other engineers

, supported by

specialist manufacturer training courses

.

You will work within a team consisting of:

Three engineers covering four shifts One Maintenance Coordinator One Maintenance Manager
All engineers receive the same base salary, with

shift rate uplifts

(see below).

Shift Patterns & Rates (37.5 hours per week)

Days:

08:00 - 16:00 ?

0% shift rate

Evenings:

16:00 - 00:00 ?

+12.5% shift rate

Nights:

00:00 - 08:00 (Midnight Sunday - Friday morning) ?

+25% shift rate

Weekends:

Saturday 07:00 - 19:00 / Sunday 07:00 - 19:00 (with one fill-in day during the week) ?

+8% shift rate

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking someone with:

Completion of an

engineering apprenticeship

with a minimum

ONC, City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification

.

Proven ability to diagnose faults

and solve problems across a wide range of

mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems

. Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach. Willingness to learn bespoke machinery and processes. Ability to work effectively as part of a shift-based team.
