Maintenance Manager
, we are seeking a skilled and hands-on
Maintenance Engineer
with a strong background in mechanical engineering, including experience in lathe operations, milling, pneumatics, and general workshop practices. This is a key role within our engineering team, supporting both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks across our production facility, as well as fabricating and machining components as required.
Key Responsibilities
Will include but are not limited to: -
Perform routine and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and production equipment.
Operate and maintain workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems, including valves, actuators, and compressors.
Manufacture, modify, and repair mechanical components using general engineering workshop tools and techniques.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues to the Maintenance Manager.
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
Adhere to health and safety policies and always ensure safe working practices.
Collaborate with the wider engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
Contribute to continuous improvement and lean maintenance initiatives.
Competencies
Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Proficient in the operation of lathes, milling machines, and general workshop equipment.
Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems and associated maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (or time-served apprenticeship).
Good problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Welding and fabrication experience.
Forklift or MEWP license.
Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS software).
