Job Title: Maintenance/Handyman for Residential Care Home



Overview:



We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance/Handyman to join our team at Abington Park View dedicated to providing exceptional care for our 27 residents. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facility, including conducting regular audits, maintaining necessary paperwork, and promptly addressing any maintenance issues that arise. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Maintenance Duties:



- Conduct routine inspections of the premises to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.

- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general carpentry work.

- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, and ensure they are readily available when needed.

- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff, and prioritize tasks based on urgency.

- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations when necessary.

2. Paperwork and Documentation:



- Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment servicing.

- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards by maintaining up-to-date documentation and records.

- Assist with the completion of required paperwork for regulatory inspections and audits.

3. Audits and Inspections:



- Conduct weekly and monthly audits of the facility to assess maintenance needs, safety hazards, and cleanliness standards.

- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents.

- Collaborate with other staff members to address any issues or concerns identified during audits.

4. Emergency Response:



- Be available for emergency maintenance calls outside of regular working hours as needed.

- Quickly assess and address urgent maintenance issues to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.

- Maintain a thorough understanding of emergency procedures and protocols to respond effectively to any situation.

Qualifications and Skills:



- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, handyman, or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or residential setting.

- Strong knowledge of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and external contractors.

- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards for healthcare facilities is desirable.
