Are you a creative marketing and communications professional who wants to make a difference?



IDPE is looking for a creative and commercially astute Marketing and Communications Officer who will play a crucial role in engaging our members through the design and delivery of compelling visual and written content. This includes management of all email and print campaigns, design of event marketing material, website management and coordination of all other digital content.

IDPE is a charity and membership organisation that supports schools across the UK and internationally to set up and evolve their fundraising and community engagement capabilities. We provide them with the tools and support they need to increase philanthropic support and build an engaged school community that enables their pupils to access the very best education.

Key responsibilities:



Marketing and communications



Copywrite, edit, proofread and distribute a wide range of communications (including emails, social media posts, and articles) with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring IDPE's voice is consistent and correct Design electronic communications in line with IDPE's brand guidelines, maintaining consistency in style and presentation Strengthen IDPE's online presence, managing social media channels and creating content to initiate two-way conversations and increase awareness of our work Design print communications, flyers and other visual inventory for events or other key projects Create annual and project-specific communication plans to maximise engagement on digital platforms, transforming marketing ideas into engaging copy and digital assets Manage the annual communications calendar, coordinating all emails, website updates and social media messaging Coordinate editorial opportunities for IDPE with sector publications, collaborating with the Head of Content and IDPE members to develop engaging copy Liaise with sponsors and corporate partners to deliver marketing and advertising inventory Utilise AI and content management tools to optimise the creation and automation of communications Track analytics for communications and social media, preparing regular reports to inform strategy development

Website and applications



Manage the website, coordinating the collection of copy from various staff members and ensuring key messages are communicated online. Ensure all content is uploaded consistently and aligns with IDPE brand guidelines Ensure SEO is up to date and optimised Track website analytics and report on any trends Manage the uploading and categorisation of resources in the online members' resource library Oversee ongoing developments to the website in line with organisational needs Oversee the setup and administration of the IDPE annual conference app

Graphic design and video content



Design icons, logos and graphics to be used on the IDPE website, social media and other marketing materials Design flyers, brochures and other printed material for events and membership mailings Liaise with external designers to create print and other advertising for events and exhibitions Edit and create video content for professional development and marketing purposes

Supporting ad hoc projects within the wider business



These tasks are not intended to be exhaustive, but they highlight the majority of tasks that the post-holder may be reasonably expected to undertake.

Essential skills/experience



An attention to detail is the key to success in this role. We are looking for someone able to proofread and copy edit to an exceptionally high standard At least 2 years' experience within a communications role Excellent copywriting, editing and communication skills Strong understanding of digital marketing principles and methodologies Experience of using MailChimp or similar platforms Experience in graphic design, creating electronic and printed material using Canva and/or Adobe InDesign Proven experience of creating web content Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to work independently and take initiative; a problem-solver Flexibility to support a small team with a variety of tasks Must be able to attend weekly meetings at the Bristol and Bath Science Park every Wednesday in term time (no obligation to attend meetings during school holidays) Must be available to start in September 2025

Although not essential, preference will be given to candidates who also have:



Experience of marketing / communications within a charity, membership organisation or school/university Experience of schools' development Proficiency in using digital analytics tools and content management systems; ability to quickly learn new software or web-based services Social media management experience Training on digital analytics and social media management can be provided.

Please note: all IDPE staff are expected to attend the IDPE Annual Conference. This will involve a three day/two night stay each May and can be anywhere in the UK.
