Marketing Manager - Ingliston, Edinburgh



Full, time, fixed term role to early July 2026 (11 months)



Salary 35,000 - 40,000, depending on experience



The role



As the Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover), you will be responsible for executing the marketing and communications strategies that support the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society's (RHASS) charitable objectives, the Royal Highland Show and a diverse range of events at the Royal Highland Centre. You will oversee the execution of marketing campaigns, manage digital content and support event communications. Your role will ensure a smooth delivery of marketing activities.

What You'll Do



Marketing Campaign Management:



Execute marketing campaigns and initiatives across digital, social media, and traditional marketing channels. Manage content creation and distribution, including website updates, social media posts, and email campaigns. Assist in the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies that align with the organisation's goals.

Event Marketing and Communication:



Support the delivery of event-specific marketing strategies, particularly for the Royal Highland Show. Collaborate with all teams to manage event communication, including the promotion of key event details and activities leading up to and during the event. Manage all event communications and represent RHASS, RHC and RHS at relevant external meetings (EPOG) and internally at Bronze/Silver level.

Team Management



Recruit and manage a Digital Marketing Assistant in the months prior to the Royal Highland Show.

Content Creation & Copywriting:



Develop engaging content for marketing materials, including website copy, blog posts, email newsletters, and social media content. Ensure consistency of tone, brand, and messaging across all marketing channels, with a particular focus on aligning with RHASS's values and goals. Commission and manage brand assets for RHS, RHC and RHASS, including photography, film and branded collateral across both the physical sites as well as digital

Stakeholder & Agency Coordination:



Maintain relationships with key external partners and agencies, including PR, Creative and Media agencies, ensuring clear communication regarding marketing campaigns and event marketing. Liaise with internal teams to align marketing efforts and keep stakeholders informed of campaign progress and results.

Reporting & Analysis:



Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement, traffic, and ROI. Provide regular updates on campaign performance to senior leadership, adjusting strategies as necessary to improve results.

Budget Support:



Manage the marketing budget for RHS, RHASS and RHC activities, ensuring projects stay within budget and financial parameters. Oversee the allocation of marketing resources, ensuring the most effective use of funds for campaigns, digital initiatives, and events. Regularly track and report on marketing spend, adjusting budgets as necessary to meet project needs while maintaining financial responsibility.

General Marketing Support:



Provide general marketing and communications support to the wider team as needed. Ensure that all marketing activities reflect RHASS's values and charitable remit.

What You'll Bring



Experience:



Proven experience in a marketing role, ideally within event industry, or cultural institutions. Strong background in executing marketing strategies and campaigns across digital and traditional channels. Experience in budget management, ensuring financial oversight and resource allocation for marketing projects.

Technical Skills:



Proficiency in digital tools and platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, WordPress, CRM systems). Strong understanding of social media marketing, email marketing, and SEO. Excellent knowledge of market research and results analysis. Effective skills in negotiation, presentation and communication.

Budget Management:



Solid experience in managing marketing budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring projects stay within financial constraints. Ability to forecast and allocate resources effectively across multiple campaigns and initiatives.

Communication Skills:



Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing copy for websites, social media, and marketing materials.

Creativity:



Strong creative flair with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.

Team Leadership:



Proven ability to lead and develop a team, providing clear direction and regular feedback to drive success.

Attention to Detail:



High level of attention to detail, with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Organisational Skills:



Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects at once.
