Materials Coordinator

Job Overview:
The Materials Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth flow of materials and maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support production demands. This position requires strong negotiation skills, logistics experience, and good IT skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Coordination
Order paints and materials for projects (as identified by Project Engineers).
Liaise with suppliers to confirm availability, manage delivery schedules, and resolve discrepancies
Register new products with SYPOL and coordinate with the HSE team for compliance
Inventory Management
Manage inventory of paints, thinners, abrasives, PPE, and other consumables
Monitor stock usage and reorder materials to prevent shortages or overstocking
Control and issue stock via iPad from the Pendennis main paint storage facility
Assist with regular stock audits and support improvements to inventory control systems
Label and track all incoming project materials with project numbers
Receiving & Storage
Receive, inspect, and store incoming paint deliveries
Ensure hazardous materials are correctly labelled and stored according to COSHH and environmental regulations
Rotate stock appropriately based on shelf life and expiry dates
Environmental & Operational Compliance
Monitor and maintain required environmental conditions (airflow, temperature, humidity, cleanliness) in work areas and project tents
Experience & Qualifications:
Proven experience in material coordination, logistics, or supply chain roles
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
Proficiency in inventory systems such as SAP or Oracle EBS
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
Analytical mindset with solid communication skills (written and verbal)
Desirable:
Familiarity with marine paints and coatings
Understanding of COSHH and PPE requirements
Previous experience in manufacturing, shipbuilding, or a similar production environment

Pay: 26,000.00-32,000.00 per year
