Mayoral Night Time Economy Commission

Birmingham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job Introduction

What does a thriving, safe Night-Time Economy look like in 2030 - and how do we get there?

This is the question Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, is asking. To help answer it, he is launching a Mayoral Night-Time Economy Commission.

From pubs to music venues, cinemas to clubs, restaurants to gyms, street-food stalls to bars, our night-time culture and leisure businesses play a vital role in making the West Midlands a great place to live, work and visit.

But the sector faces its most challenging period in decades. Cost-of-living pressures, licensing and regulation, public transport, safety, staffing, and changing consumer behaviours are all shaping the future of our nightlife.

The Commission will bring together industry voices and national bodies to explore these challenges and opportunities, and to help establish a roadmap for a thriving and safe NTE in the region through to 2030.

About the Commission

The Commission will sit for

six months

from Autumn 2025. Members will attend

around six meetings

(plus occasional input via email). The Commission will produce a report to help inform the Mayor and the WMCA Members will be expected to commit to the Commission's values of collaboration, inclusivity, neutrality, and mutual respect.
