We are delighted to advertise an opening for a highly motivated, effective and experienced full-time Receptionist with qualities to include the following:

You will have the ability to work under pressure and have an organised approach to your work. All duties are to be performed in a professional manner to ensure the highest level of service is provided.

You will undergo complete reception induction and training to agreed practice standards.

Main Duties will include:



Ensuring outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary Ensuring optimal reception area and associated facilities for practice, CCG and other in-house providers associated with the practice Dealing with all enquiries including some complex enquiries and complaints from patients and visitors. Use your initiative to escalate problems to the Reception Lead where necessary Continually assessing and evaluating systems, recommending changes and improvements to the Reception Lead as appropriate Extracting brief summary reports for surgeries, house calls and routine enquiries Ensuring the filing and scanning of patient documents as per practice protocol Registering new patients in accordance with practice protocol Retrieval of patient notes for return to health authority Making appointments for patient to see doctor, nurse and other clinical staff associated with the practice Recording messages for clinicians Preparation of general correspondence Usinging your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner Explaining Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Receiving and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Entering requests for home visits, Duty Doctor patient call backs and other administrative tasks as required into the EMIS Web Task option, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor. Actioning repeat prescriptions requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer or manually, and inform patients if this is not possible. Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions Advising patients of relevant charges for private non General Medical Services, accept payment and issue receipts for same Entering patient information on to the computer as required Ensuring that all new and temporary patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately Retrieving and re-file records as required, ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to Ensuring correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed promptly and in the correct records (utilizing the DOCMAN clinical filing system), ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen. Responding to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery Initiating Emergency (999) calls when advised by the clinicians Contacting other providers as required e.g. Ambulance Transport Bookings; Dial-a-ride; Interpreting Services;

Overview of our organisation



Woodlands Health Centre is based in Hither Green, Lewisham, London, SE13. The practice has a GOOD rating by the CQC and has achieved all its QoF targets five years running. We have a growing list of over 11,500 registered patients. The practice has 5 GPs, 3 nurses, HCAs, a pharmacist and a team of reception and administrative staff. It also has various community supporting services.

Here at Woodlands Health Centre our patients come first. Working as a team we are able to cater for their needs in a busy work environment.

Woodlands Health Centre is fully infection control compliant.We have staff parking facilities, a lovely staff room and newly refurbished premises.

Pay: 13.50 per hour
