Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities:
Receive and make telephone calls. Complete Arden's template with patient details and record detailed clinical information for the purposes of telephone triage. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Good working knowledge of Practice website to ensure they can navigate patients accordingly
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
Open and sort incoming mail.
Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical manner.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Record requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
Advise patients there will be a fee for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
Premises:
o Open up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, de-activate alarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.
o When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured, internal lights are off and the alarm activated.
Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
Ensure that all applications for on-line services are registered promptly and accurately
Ensure that patient consents are recorded on the computer promptly and accurately
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual to provide a high quality service to our patients and contribute substantially to our Practice team.
The successful candidate will have:-
A positive and friendly approach to patient service
An ability to work both as part of a team and under own initiative
An ability to manage challenging situations
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent IT skills
A flexible approach to their work and be able to cover holiday and sickness leave, sometimes at short notice
Basic hours - 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus additional hours to cover for annual leave and sickness.
