Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced

Metal Fabrication Foreman

to lead our workshop operations, drive production output, and coordinate work both internally and, where required, on site. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring fabrication works are delivered efficiently, safely and to the highest standard, in line with programme and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities



1. Lead & Manage Fabrication Operations



Lead and oversee the day-to-day activities of the fabrication team, ensuring production targets, output and quality standards are consistently met. Act as the primary authority on the workshop floor, making informed decisions to maintain productivity, workflow efficiency and team performance. Allocate labour and resources effectively in response to production requirements.

2. Production Output & Programme Control



Take ownership of production output, ensuring fabrication schedules are achieved and deadlines met. Monitor progress against programme, identifying risks or bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions promptly. Adjust workflows and priorities as required to meet changing production demands.

3. Fabrication Plan & Drawing Management



Review all fabrication drawings to ensure they are accurate, buildable and aligned with production capabilities. Coordinate closely with designers and the wider technical team to resolve drawing queries, discrepancies or design constraints. Ensure fabrication works are executed strictly in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

4. Material & Resource Coordination



Identify material requirements for each stage of production and raise clear, timely material requests with the purchasing team. Proactively track material availability to prevent delays or interruptions to fabrication output. Maintain oversight of materials sent externally for galvanising, powder coating or other specialist processes, ensuring quality, traceability and timely return.

5. Internal & Site Coordination



Coordinate fabrication works internally and, where required, liaise with site teams to support installation programmes. Communicate effectively with site supervisors to ensure materials, components and equipment are delivered on time and in the correct sequence. Raise and manage material and logistics requests for site-based works as necessary.

6. Quality Control & Assurance



Maintain full responsibility for quality control across all fabricated works. Inspect work in progress and completed items, ensuring compliance with internal standards, industry requirements and project specifications. Implement corrective actions where quality issues arise and prevent recurrence.

7. Health, Safety & Compliance



Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and best practice within the workshop and on site. Ensure all works are carried out in a safe, compliant and well-organised environment.

8. Team Leadership & Performance Management



Lead, motivate and manage the fabrication team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism and collaboration. Address performance issues promptly and fairly, maintaining high standards while supporting team development. Resolve conflicts efficiently to sustain morale and productivity.

9. Reporting & Communication



Prepare and submit weekly reports to the Assistant Operations Manager / Operations Manager, outlining production progress, challenges and actions. Contribute clearly and constructively in meetings to support informed decision-making and continuous operational improvement.

10. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement



Take decisive action to resolve technical, operational or resourcing issues on the workshop floor. Identify and implement improvements to processes, workflows and safety measures to enhance efficiency, quality and output. Drive a culture of continuous improvement across fabrication operations.

Requirements



Proven experience in a metal fabrication foreman or senior supervisory role

Valid CSCS card (mandatory)

Strong understanding of fabrication processes, drawings and production workflows Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills Full UK driving licence is

advantageous

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production demands
