Brief Description

To lead the Network Rail energy and carbon process and manage the development of all policies in support of energy and carbon management activity including appropriate governance, adherence to regulatory requirements, and to develop and lead the creation of strategies to reduce energy and carbon.

Lead the charge in implementing our bold low emissions strategy across Network Rail and the entire industry. We\'ll set the stage for transformation by establishing clear policies and standards that drive our strategic objectives and seamlessly integrate them into our business processes and plans.. You\'ll direct the definition of energy and carbon related standards and control frameworks, ensuring that we stay ahead of the curve by incorporating legislative changes, embracing best practices, and adhering to effective environmental and sustainability rules. As the driving force behind our energy budget, you\'ll expertly manage its delivery for Network Rail while surpassing regulatory targets. Leading the way in energy usage and carbon emissions reduction, you\'ll shape our company and industry strategy to align with the demanding requirements of achieving net zero. Innovation will be at the forefront of our journey, and you\'ll spearhead the sponsorship of research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing our energy and carbon performance. By considering energy and carbon requirements in engineering innovations, we\'ll pave the way for ground-breaking advancements. Forge strong relationships with energy suppliers and elevate our advocacy scores, as you continuously improve the processes and systems that support pre and post contract management activities. By providing expert advice to our Executive Leadership Team, regional leads, and external stakeholders, including regulators, you\'ll establish yourself as a trusted professional in all energy and carbon matters. Finally, as a true leader, you\'ll orchestrate the delivery of national energy and carbon improvement programs, ensuring their successful implementation across the nation. In this role, you\'ll spearhead the development and implementation of business and industry strategies, driving energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives. Your expertise and leadership will be the driving force behind our high-performing team, scattered across various locations, as we strive to achieve our ambitious goals.

With a proven track record in leading strategy development and implementation, you\'ll bring your exceptional skills in influencing and negotiating to establish mutually beneficial relationships both internally and externally. Your deep understanding and application of best practices in Utilities category management, along with your ability to deliver benefits through leading-edge tools and techniques, will be instrumental in surpassing individual contract levels exceeding \xc2\xa320m.

Budget management and delivering Regulatory efficiencies will be second nature to you, as you\'ve consistently achieved outstanding results in these areas. Your proficiency in leading negotiations using fact-based tactics and techniques will ensure optimal outcomes, while your collaboration with suppliers will enhance their quality and cost structures through feedback, education, and joint initiatives.

As a role model for exceptional business conduct, you\'ll maintain NR values under internal and external pressures, setting the standard for professionalism and integrity. With your degree-level education and possibly even an advanced degree like an MBA, you possess the educational foundation to excel in this role.

In addition to these essential qualifications and experience, your experience in introducing new processes and techniques to drive change in complex environments will give you an edge. Your deep understanding of the utilities category, ability to identify major cost drivers, and enforcement of good project management discipline will further strengthen your capabilities.
