The DoubleTree by Hilton Nottingham Gateway Hotel are now recruiting for a Night Porter to join our Team.

Your role



This Role is 40 Hours per week on a contract basis paid breaks and the opportunity of overtime when available. This will be 5 days. Shift pattern being from 23:00 to 07:00. In your new role as Night Porter, you will be reporting to the Duty Manager.

Your duties are as follows:

Ensuring safety and security of the building and guests during the night hours. Public area fire safety checks, and record in fire log book. To take and maintain clear detailed records of any incidents which may occur during the shift. Involved in the production and delivery of late night room service. Liaising with the C&B management and preparing for next day's business in respect of room set-up, and any prep for upcoming business. Rearrangement of conference rooms as and when required, so will need to be able to perform such tasks. According conference rooms, private parties, dinners and weddings are set correctly set-up to our Hilton Brand standard & manual handing statutory requirement, ensuring correct safe lifting techniques. Assistance of guests when required. Be able to stay calm in the event of an emergency, following procedures and contacting the relevant emergency services. To be vigilant and whilst carrying out duties, continuously on the lookout for any damage, faults or defects, and if found, report them to the relevant department. Cleaning of designated areas to high standards, following a cleaning schedule for deep cleaning of each room. To ensure that all external smoking areas are cleaned and presentable to guests. To attend any query or incident within the residence, and resolve the issue promptly.

As part of the night team, you have an immense responsibility of the Hotel during night hours, so the perfect candidate must:

Be in good health, as role involves a reasonable amount of physical work throughout the shift. Have good customer service skills. Be flexible and reliable in both working days and times. Be very well organized, able to set up conference rooms and keep working areas clean and tidy. Work as part of a team and also comfortable to work on own. Able to use own initiative to solve problems. Have a genuine passion for exceptional service, and a keen eye for detail. Be highly attentive with a strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be confident building a relationship with our guests and members of the Hotel team. Be friendly and enthusiastic, with a drive to enhance service and turn in guest satisfaction.
Training is provided in conference duties so no experience is required.

A warm and welcoming personality is key, with high standards of professionalism, appearance and a drive to provide a memorable experience for each and every guest.

You should be aware that this role involves you working on an independent basis, on your own initiative and working on your own for long periods of time.

Having similar or night work experience is an advantage, as would some basic bar experience.
