Job Title: Nursery Cook

Location: Kidspace Nursery, 27 Church Drive, Markfield

Hours: 9am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)

Interviews: Week commencing 27th October 2025

Overview of Main Responsibilities and Duties

To prepare and cook healthy and nutritious meals and snacks, from approved Kidspace Nursery menu To ensure all meals are ready at the correct times making sure company and setting deadlines and guidelines are met. To maintain a high standard of hygiene in the kitchen. To complete the weekly ordering of food To maintain and clean kitchen equipment such as the oven and microwave. To ensure good stock rotation in cupboards, fridges and freezers. Keep accurate records of fridge and freezer temperatures. Report any defective equipment which may need repairing to Management. Ensuring correct temperature of food and correct storage of chilled food. Maintain adequate stock levels of food. To be aware of health and safety legislation which is relevant to the nursery kitchen. Remove kitchen waste regularly, appropriately and hygienically. Ensure food hygiene certificates are always up to date. Ensure that the Safer Food, Better Business file is followed and kept up to date at all times. To accurately complete Kidspace Nurseries paperwork in accordance with the company guidelines and setting guidelines. To be involved in Environmental Health Inspections where you will aspire to achieve a '5' grading. To wear the Kidspace Nurseries uniform provided in accordance with the company uniform policy. To report any accidents to management and ensure that any injuries are appropriately dealt with. To ensure company all company confidentiality producers are adhered to and to maintain confidentiality at all times. To ensure that all childcare team members, entering the kitchen, have received the correct training and are wearing the correct protective clothing. To ensure that First Aid boxes in the kitchen are stocked and maintained. To conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. To complete all training as identified by nursery management. To ensure that the Kidspace Nurseries whistle blowing policy is followed and adhered to at all times. To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of your job role.

Person Specification:

Education and Qualifications

Essential: Educated to GCSE Level (or equivalent),

Desirable: Formal Qualification in Culinary Skills such as City & Guilds or NVQ,

CIEH Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering Qualification.

First Aid

(Food hygiene training can be given)

Experience and Track Record

Desirable: One year's experience working in the hospitality industry.

Experience working as a Chef in a childcare setting.

But most importantly a passion for cooking healthy, balanced and colourful food that children will want to taste, explore and enjoy.

Personal Qualities

Essential: Self-motivated, ability to solve problems, approachable, creative, attention to detail, Flexible, dedicated, good allergen awareness, good personal hygiene, knowledge of portion control and experience with safer food better business.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.27 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
