Responsibilities



Leadership & Management



Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery Lead staff meetings, conduct supervisions and appraisals Assist with staff recruitment, induction, and training Take responsibility for the nursery in the absence of the Manager Monitor and support staff performance, well-being, and morale

Child Development & Curriculum



Ensure delivery of a broad, balanced, and stimulating curriculum in line with the EYFS Monitor children's development and support staff in planning age-appropriate next steps Promote inclusive practice, supporting children with SEND, EAL, and additional needs Act as a role model in delivering high-quality interactions and learning experiences

Safeguarding & Compliance



Take lead safeguarding responsibilities as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Ensure full compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and EYFS regulations Carry out risk assessments and promote a culture of safety and well-being Maintain accurate records in line with nursery policies and statutory requirements

Parent & Community Engagement



Build strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring effective two-way communication Lead parent consultations, events, and respond to feedback or concerns professionally Represent the nursery positively within the local community

Requirements



Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (or above) Previous experience in a senior nursery role (Room Leader, Deputy, or similar) Strong understanding of EYFS, safeguarding, and SEND practices Experience in leading or supporting a team within an early years setting Excellent communication and organisational skills Designated Safeguarding Lead training (or willingness to undertake)

Desirable:



Paediatric First Aid certification SENDCO experience Budget or administrative experience
