We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Deputy Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and childcare, with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively. This role is pivotal in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, while also supporting the overall operations of the nursery.
The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, 50 weeks per year. Rotating shift pattern of 40 hours/week within opening hours.
Responsibilities
Assist in the daily management of the nursery, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices in early childhood education.
Drive the implementation of educational programmes that promote children's learning and development.
Lead and support staff in delivering high-quality childcare, fostering an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns.
Manage administrative tasks including record-keeping, scheduling, and staff training coordination.
Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained at all times within the nursery setting.
Support the Manager in developing policies and procedures that enhance the quality of care provided.
Support children to reach their full potential
Requirements
Proven experience in early childhood education or childcare settings, with a strong understanding of child development principles.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with children, staff, and parents.
A genuine passion for working with children and promoting their well-being.
Ability to drive initiatives that enhance educational outcomes for children.
Previous experience working within a nursery or similar environment as a deputy manager / third in charge
Minimum CACHE Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
Excellent time management and organisation skills
Computer literate as you will be using nursery management software
Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures, OFSTED grade descriptors and EYFS statutory framework requirements
