Nursery Deputy Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in a nursery setting 6 months- 5 years. The ideal candidate will possess a strong Knowledge of the EYFS and Safeguarding. The role involves supporting the nursery manager in the overall operation of the setting, maintaining Ofsted standards and requirements and ensuring that high standards of care, education, and safety are maintained.

Qualifications

:

Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education

(or equivalent) essential, must be full and relevant.

Leadership and management training

beneficial.

Paediatric first aid certificate

required but training can be provided.

Safeguarding training

required but training can be provided.

SENCO training

beneficial to the role.
2.

Experience

:

Experience in early years education

: at least 2-3 years working in a childcare or early years setting, preferably in a supervisory role. Experience working with children aged 0-5 years, understanding developmental stages, and how to deliver effective learning experiences. Previous experience as a

room leader

or in a

supervisory role

within a nursery is required. Experience in

managing staff

or leading teams within the childcare setting is advantageous.

:

Leadership and management skills

: Ability to manage and motivate a team of childcare practitioners, support staff development, and ensure high standards of practice.

Communication skills

: Good interpersonal skills for dealing with parents, staff, and external agencies.

Knowledge of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)

: Understanding of the framework that guides the care and education of young children in England.

Organisational skills

: Ability to manage multiple tasks, timetables, and resources efficiently.

Commitment to quality and safeguarding

: Ensure the nursery meets regulatory requirements, delivers high standards of care, and provides a safe environment for children.

Responsibilities

:

Supporting the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery. Supervising staff and managing rotas, training, and performance. Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintaining high standards of cleanliness. To be the Inclusion leader, carrying out the duties of the SENCO role within the nursery. To cover staff breaks and days off within all rooms. Maintaining positive relationships with parents and families. Assisting with planning and implementing the curriculum based on the needs of the children. To carry out the duties of Deputy Safeguard Lead when needed. Monitoring the progress of the children and supporting their development. Conducting regular staff meetings, appraisals, and performance reviews.

Other Requirements

:

Enhanced DBS check

for working with children on the update service. It is your responsibility to ensure you have this.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.00-15.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
