We are currently seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our leadership team on a maternity leave cover basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key leadership role, supporting our team in maintaining high standards of care and education during this important period.

Job Overview:



As the Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day operations of the nursery. You will assist in managing the team, overseeing the curriculum, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and education. You will also take the lead in managing staff development, liaising with parents, and supporting safeguarding protocols.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership Support:

Assist the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring all operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Take charge in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

Team Management:

Lead, support, and motivate a team of nursery staff, conducting regular supervisions, appraisals, and providing on-the-job training to ensure professional growth and development.

Curriculum Oversight:

Ensure that the curriculum is implemented effectively, promoting engaging and developmentally appropriate activities tailored to the individual needs of the children.

Staff Training & Development:

Organize and deliver training sessions for staff to maintain high standards of practice. Support the professional development of the team and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.

Parent Liaison:

Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, addressing any concerns, organizing parent meetings, and providing feedback on children's progress.

Safeguarding & Compliance:

Act as the designated safeguarding lead (if applicable), ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed, conducting risk assessments, and making referrals when necessary.

Health & Safety:

Maintain a safe and hygienic environment for children and staff, ensuring the nursery is fully compliant with health and safety regulations.

Administrative Support:

Assist with administrative duties, including managing children's records, maintaining attendance logs, and ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accurate.

Skills and Qualifications:



Proven experience in a nursery management or deputy management role. Level 3 or above in Early Years Education and Care (or equivalent). Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and safeguarding regulations. Experience with staff management, training, and development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing a nurturing environment for children. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lead by example and work collaboratively as part of a team.
