We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Manager to lead our 16-place nursery in Chalkwell. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a proven background in early childhood education, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who wants to be on the floor, connected to children and staff, while also overseeing compliance and quality standards.
? Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, and health & safety standards
Lead and support a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and training
Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging educational programmes
Build and maintain strong partnerships with parents, offering regular updates and support around their child's progress
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children and families
Maintain accurate records of children's development, attendance, and safeguarding documentation
Promote the nursery's values and reputation within the local community
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and take overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection
Foster warm, respectful relationships with children, supporting their emotional and social development
? Qualifications & Experience
A minimum of Level 3 qualification in Early Years (Level 5+ preferred)
At least 2 years' experience in a nursery management or senior leadership role
Strong working knowledge
of EYFS, Ofsted requirements, and safeguarding
A confident, compassionate leader who can motivate and inspire a small team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing
Confident with rota planning, parent relationships, and day-to-day nursery systems
Paediatric First Aid and Designated Safeguarding Lead training (or willingness to complete)
