This role involves assessing the mobility needs of service users, recommending appropriate equipment, adaptations, and interventions to promote independence and safety at home. Key Responsibilities
Conduct
comprehensive mobility and functional assessments
in service users' homes or community settings.
Recommend and prescribe suitable
equipment and minor adaptations
to promote independence.
Provide professional guidance on
moving and handling techniques
and risk assessments.
Collaborate with colleagues in social care, health, and housing to develop effective care plans.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with the
Care Act 2014
and other statutory frameworks.
Monitor and review interventions to ensure positive outcomes for service users.
Support in service development and best practice initiatives.
About You
You are a confident and compassionate Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment and communication skills.
Essential criteria:
Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).
Proven experience in mobility assessments and equipment/adaptation work.
Knowledge of relevant legislation (Care Act 2014, Manual Handling Operations Regulations).
Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
Strong organisational and documentation skills.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a local authority or community-based setting.
Familiarity with housing adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
