Job Description

Due to retirement, DGA Forestry LLP are looking to hire an Office Administrator/Bookkeeper to join the team in our busy Dalbeattie office.

DGA Forestry is one of Scotland's leading independent forestry consultancies. The firm was established in 1972 to provide an independent management and consultancy service to forest owners, free from the conflict of interest often found in contracting based organisations. We offer personal attention to a wide range of clients from private individuals, farmers and estate owners to multi-national companies and government agencies.

As the Office Administrator/Bookkeeper you will be responsible for general administrative tasks and bookkeeping duties such as managing daily office operations, ensuring efficient data entry, and maintaining accurate financial records, including recording transactions, processing payments, and reconciling accounts. You will also be responsible for managing and maintaining the companies SharePoint sites.

We are looking for a positive, proactive and friendly person, who will help us to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the business and support our forest managers in delivering for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:



General Office Administration:*
Managing incoming and outgoing communications, including phone and email. Maintain company SharePoint site. Performing clerical duties like filing, data entry, and record maintenance. Organise office supplies and equipment. Assisting with administrative tasks such as meeting scheduling and minuting, holiday/leave administration, report preparation, and general office support. Assisting with the administration of company fleet vehicles

Bookkeeping:*
Recording financial transactions using Xero accounting software. Processing payments, invoices, and receipts. Reconciling bank statements and accounts. Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely payment processing. Assisting with financial reporting and tax preparation.

Forestry Management Administration:*
Record and manage Timber Sales records Manage Deer Stalking leases and records Assist with UKWAS Certification Assist Forest Managers with budget preparation/administration

Required Skills:



Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft 365 essential. Knowledge of Xero accounting software preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This combined role requires a strong understanding of both administrative practices and basic accounting principles, plus a willingness to analyse and adapt systems as workplaces practices change.

The role is office based and would ideally suit someone seeking flexible working hours. DGA Forestry operate a competitive pension enrolment scheme and private health care. Salary would be commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 25,000.00-35,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
