Role Overview



The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our production facility, ensuring alignment across departments, delivery of strategic goals, and adherence to food safety and quality standards. This role is central to executing the business plan, managing cross-functional teams, and driving operational efficiency and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA)

Lead and inspire production, logistics, technical and support teams.

Manage daily, weekly, and monthly performance KPIs.

Create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Conduct regular reviews with managers, team leaders and key staff.

Execution of the Business Plan



Translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans.

Monitor progress against production, efficiency, and cost targets.

Support the leadership team in achieving profitability and growth objectives.

Integration of Departments

Ensure smooth collaboration across production, logistics, planning, and customer service.

Identify and resolve cross-departmental inefficiencies or communication gaps.

Align teams under shared goals, processes, and timelines.

Special Projects



Lead and manage key initiatives such as new product launches, equipment upgrades, and process automation.

Implement systems to improve traceability, reporting, and food safety compliance.

Liaise with external stakeholders and contractors as required.

Managing Resources



Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet demand.

Manage raw material ordering, inventory, and supply chain efficiency.

Maintain compliance with health & safety and food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, SALSA/BRC).

Process Improvements & Lean Manufacturing



Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of operations.

Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Evaluate current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement process optimisations.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence among staff.

Skills & Qualifications



Proven experience in food manufacturing or FMCG operations.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Ability to think strategically and execute operationally.

Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.

Strong understanding of quality and safety standards.

Experience with ERP/MRP systems is an advantage.

Requirements



The ideal candidate will have the following as minimum.

Food safety 4

Haccp 4

IOSH

5+ Years operations experience within food manufacturing

Proven experience in operations management within the food production industry.

Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations.

Basic mathematical skills for inventory management and reporting.

Mechanical knowledge is a plus for troubleshooting equipment issues.

Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse team.
