Job summary


We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee and enhance our operational processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, problem solving, managing staff, and implementing strategies to improve productivity and quality. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while fostering a positive work environment.

Duties



Supervise daily operations to ensure operational effectiveness, efficiency and adherence to company policies. Problem solve to address operational issues as they arise. Support the Transport Manager with prioritising workload, managing resource allocation, and helping to ensure compliance with the Operators License. Support Department Managers to help lead a team of employees, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations. Provide direct line management for other employees, including 20 plus Coach Drivers, as well as Parts and Procurement and in-house Laundry personnel. Develop and implement operational strategies that align with company goals. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with Department Managers to streamline processes and enhance communication across the organisation. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff. Implement and oversee ongoing training for staff to promote skill development and operational excellence. Prepare reports on operational performance for senior management review.

Skills



Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of making informed decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with various stakeholders. Proficiency in using operational management software and tools. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining focus on strategic objectives.

Experience



Proven experience working in operations management, ideally with experience in the transport sector Line management in an operational environment, ideally with experience in the transport sector IT competent (Microsoft Office 365 suite) Administration systems - familiarity with digital platforms and ideally, experience using vehicle and fleet management software and tools Logistics and planning - experience in organising complex activities involving multiple stakeholders, departments and locations Health and safety management qualifications - desirable

Remuneration and hours



Full time position / 40 paid hours per week including breaks

Competitive rate of pay, in line with applicant's experience
