About Us:
Plastic Processing Ltd is a group of plastic businesses specialising in the production of high-quality injection moulding, vac forming and rotationally moulded plastic products. Based in Gateshead (Head Office) and Malvern. As a small but rapidly expanding group of companies, we take pride in delivering solutions to our clients while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and innovation. We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team and help us streamline processes, optimise efficiency, improve the bottom line and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our business. You will be responsible for managing production schedules, supply chain logistics, inventory management, and quality control, all while leading a small, dedicated team. If you have experience in the manufacturing sector, particularly in plastics, and are ready to take ownership of operations from start to finish, this is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the production process, ensuring efficiency and on-time delivery of products for all businesses.
Manage the supply chain, including inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships.
Monitor quality control procedures to ensure products meet industry standards.
Implement and optimise operational processes and systems for maximum productivity.
Lead, motivate, and develop a small team of production staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., sales, finance, engineering) to ensure seamless business operations.
Monitor and introduce, in some areas, key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on production and operational performance.
Identify areas for improvement and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain health and safety compliance and promote a safe working environment.
Handle customer inquiries related to operations and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry (plastics experience a strong plus).
Working for a SME not a large corporation.
Hands on position for someone who can hit the ground running from day one.
Strong understanding of production processes, supply chain management, and inventory control.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of quality management systems and best practices.
Strong attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
A degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Knowledge by experience would be accepted for the right candidate.
Why Join Us?
Opportunity to work in a collaborative, innovative, and supportive environment.
Be part of a fast-growing company where your contributions are valued.
Potential for career growth and development within the organisation.
