Summary

We are seeking a proactive, detail-driven

Operations Manager

to lead daily logistics, fleet, and driver operations. This role is hands-on and requires someone fluent in

Portuguese

, skilled in

Excel/spreadsheet analysis

, and experienced in both operational coordination and

driver training for parcel delivery

.

You will play a central role in our expanding delivery operation -- overseeing vans, drivers, compliance, performance metrics, and supplier relations, including growing partnerships in

Portugal

.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet & Vehicle Operations

Conduct daily van inspections and log mechanical/operational issues. Manage fuel cards and track usage. Coordinate servicing, MOTs, insurance changes, and off-road status. Maintain a servicing schedule and address van damage/costs.

Driver Oversight & Training

Recruit and onboard new drivers, including vetting and documentation.

Conduct in-house driving tests and evaluations

as part of onboarding.

Train drivers on safe and efficient parcel delivery methods

using internal SOPs and client expectations (e.g. Amazon standards). Deliver training across various modules: PHR, Compliance, Netrodyne, POD, Delivery Completion Rates, Weather, and Refresher sessions. Track individual training progress and compliance requirements. Oversee rota management, route assignment, and driver standbys.

Data Analysis & Performance

Create and maintain spreadsheets (using

formulas and metrics

) to track: Parcel volumes Fuel use Vehicle checks Training completion Incident costs Weekly performance (delivery success rates, claims, rescues) Prepare weekly reports and audit files. Monitor Cortex to confirm completed work is invoiced and paid.

Logistics & Operational Management

Supervise van dispatch, routing, and loadout processes. Reassign routes as needed based on real-time demand. Oversee daily operations and shift handovers. Manage concessions, claim updates, and delivery schedules.

Communication & Supplier Growth

Fluency in Portuguese

is required to liaise with suppliers in Portugal. Serve as the communication bridge with new vendors and operational partners abroad. Support company expansion initiatives in new territories.

Requirements:

Fluent in

Portuguese

(spoken and written). Full UK driving licence. Experience in logistics, operations, or fleet management. Proven ability to

train drivers

, conduct

driving assessments

, and manage delivery standards. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills - able to build and maintain spreadsheets with custom formulas. Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills. Familiarity with compliance protocols (HMRC, insurance, risk assessments, audits).

Desirable:

Experience in Amazon DSP or delivery service provider operations. Familiarity with systems like Cortex, routing tools, or fleet management platforms. First aid or training certifications (not essential, but beneficial).
