to lead and oversee all packing operations within our food manufacturing facility. This critical role ensures that finished products are packed efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will manage the packing of ambient chilled pastry products, ensuring correct presentation, labelling, shelf life, and traceability while meeting customer and production requirements.
As Packing Manager, you will lead a team of packing professionals, manage schedules and staffing, monitor output, and collaborate closely with production, quality, and despatch teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
Packing Operations
Oversee daily packing operations for all baked products.
Ensure products meet specifications for weight, count, packaging format, and presentation.
Coordinate packing with baking and cooling schedules to maintain freshness and food safety.
Minimise product handling damage and reduce waste.
Monitor line performance against targets (OEE) and address variances promptly.
Manage labour costs, staffing levels, and time/attendance in line with company policies.
Maintain excellent GMP standards and ensure audit readiness at all times.
Ensure correct use and availability of packaging materials and oversee safe operation of packing equipment.
Food Safety & Quality
Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, BRC, and allergen control standards.
Maintain accurate labelling, date coding, and full product traceability.
Support internal and external audits and uphold hygiene standards in packing areas.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop Packing Shift Managers and teams.
Plan staffing and shift rosters to meet production demands.
Provide training on food safety, quality, and packing procedures.
Manage performance, attendance, and disciplinary processes effectively.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Monitor KPIs including output, waste, efficiency, and downtime.
Identify and implement process improvements.
Prepare daily performance reports and address operational issues.
