Are you a competent administrator with experience of finance systems and processes? We are looking for someone to come and join our small but busy team on a part-time basis, working 10 hours per week to support the financial and general administration associated with our 10 churches, and 6 associated halls.

Main areas of responsibility
1. Financial and banking administration including setting or authorising payments of invoices
2. Managing payments and processing refunds for hall hire and bookings
3. Orders and returns for specialist church supplies and cleaning and maintenance products for churches and venues
4. Maintaining accurate financial records
5. Responding to enquiries
6. Supporting basic reporting
7. Ensuring compliance: Helping ensure all procedures comply with parish policies and safeguarding standards, particularly regarding volunteer interactions and data handling
8. Any other responsibilities
SKILLS
Experience in financial administration, including invoice processing, payment authorisation, and credit control, ideally using Xero or similar software.
Confident in managing online banking and handling cash and cheque banking securely.
Strong communication skills for liaising with hall hirers, contractors, volunteers, and other stakeholders about payments, bookings, orders, and refunds.
Experience in ordering supplies, managing returns, and working with suppliers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and online financial platforms.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Friendly and approachable, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers and parish staff.
Understanding of confidentiality and discretion when handling financial and personal information.
Commitment to maintaining a safe environment in line with Church of England Safeguarding Policies.
Willingness to support wider Parish Office functions and assist the Parish Treasurer as required.
Interest in learning about church operations and community engagement.
Ability to interpret financial data and reports
Commitment to the values of the Church of England, with respect for its worship, mission, and communities.
