Personal Support Assistant

Merthyr Tydfil, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Personal Support Assistant 14 per hour

I am a 6yr old boy and I live with my twin brother, mum and dad. I was born prematurely which caused health and development issues. This includes a brain deformity that impacts how I learn and also, effects my fine and gross motor skills. Repetition of skills really helps me and I thrive in a calm environment. I have autism and I am PEG fed and I require supervision at all times. My verbal communication is very limited but I am able to use certain singular words and gestures to communicate my needs.

I love playing and climbing, I love music and quite often like to sing. I love sensory spaces and really enjoy chilling in a comfy area with pretty lights and music playing. This makes me feel relaxed and calm. I love swimming and I interact well with adults. I need some encouragement to build on my social skills with other children. I find comfort in familiar routines and environments but can be pretty adaptable as long as I am prepared for any changes.

This role is more than just supervision - it's about creating a lasting, positive relationship with me. It's about helping me grow in confidence, enjoy new experiences, and develop life skills. Your support will not only improve my well-being but also offer reassurance and help me access the world more safely, confidently and joyfully.

Tasks and Duties

The role of my Personal Assistant (PA) is vital in supporting me to access daily life experiences that my peers enjoy. I need a kind, calm and consistent adult who can help me during school holidays and school-term.

This includes helping me with transitioning to and from activities, supporting me to play safely, and encouraging me to explore my interests through community activities and structured social opportunities. Your support will also give my parents some much-needed respite.
