Pharmaceutical Warehouse Operations Manager

Location: Chester

Reports To: Head of Operations

Department: Logistics & Distribution

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the operations of a pharmaceutical and medical supply warehouse, ensuring compliance with MHRA regulations, efficient use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and effective team leadership to maintain high standards of inventory control, safety, and distribution. The role works in close collaboration with the Responsible Person (RP) to uphold Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance

Ensure full compliance with MHRA guidelines and GDP.

Work in parallel with the Responsible Person to maintain audit readiness and regulatory standards.

Implement and monitor SOPs aligned with pharmaceutical regulations.

Warehouse Operations

Oversee receiving, storage, and dispatch of pharmaceutical and medical products.

Ensure proper handling and storage conditions for temperature-sensitive and controlled items.

Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts.

Technology & Systems

Utilize and optimize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and reporting.

Collaborate with IT and supply chain teams to troubleshoot and enhance system performance.

Team Leadership & Development

Manage, train, and develop warehouse staff to ensure high performance and compliance.

Spearhead onboarding and training programs for new starters.

Mentor team members and champion continuous professional development.

Set clear KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.

Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Logistics & Coordination

Coordinate with procurement, quality assurance, and distribution teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers and suppliers.

Lead cross-functional collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to streamline operations and resolve issues.

Health & Safety

Enforce health and safety standards in line with HSE and pharmaceutical regulations.

Conduct regular risk assessments and safety drills.

Qualifications & Experience:

Proven experience in warehouse management within the pharmaceutical or medical supply sector.

Strong understanding of MHRA regulations and GDP.

Proficiency in WMS platforms (e.g., Business Central, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

Experience mentoring and training staff at all levels.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

Relevant certifications (e.g., GDP, MHRA compliance training) are desirable.

Salary: From 37,000 per year dependant on experience

Job Type: Full-time
