Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Planning validation Technicians team. You will be providing support to the Planning service in the validation of planning applications and other associated functions, as well as providing guidance to customers ensuring the service meets is statutory obligations.



The postholder will be expected to have the ability to attend our offices for a minimum of two days a week, with the opportunity at present to also undertake home working on a number of days of the week, once comprehensive training has taken place.

ABOUT THE ROLE





A fabulous opportunity has arisen for someone to join our team as a Planning Technician. You will play an integral part within our Business Support operation, supporting the planning service in validate Planning applications and delivering numerous other support service functions for Cheshire East Council. The role will require you to be focused and hands on, monitoring performance to meet various service demands and KPI Targets. As a team member you will need to adapt to change with ease, as any legislation changes arising can have an associated impact on our potential service delivery. This may result in further training on relevant updates and process changes to be introduced for the service to comply with all requirements.



The role will provide you with a great opportunity to utilise a diverse range of skills including:


Managing your own workloads and meeting deadlines Supporting team members as necessary to meet conflicting demands; Liaising with Planning staff to meet the greater needs of the service. Developing excellent time management and problem solving skills. Evaluating the service provision to meet new legislative changes Developing strategies for change/improvement to maximise best use of systems and processes; Collaboration with the Systems Support Officer putting forward any potential ideas aspirations to improve services.

ABOUT YOU



You will:


Have 2 x A levels or equivalent experience Previous experience within local Government and the Planning service Excellent computer skills Ability to interpret plans for loading onto our computerised system Experience of working under own initiative, Great problem solving skills to meet the varying demands the service encounters Have great communication skills to discuss enquiries with customers and professional alike Have a flexible approach to work Have a passion for improving services which improve on customers experiences overall

This job is offered on a full time (5 days per week) basis.
