Job Description

ETG Civil Engineering is looking for a highly experience Plant, Tool and Yard Manager to be responsible for our fleet of assets along with the smooth running of our yard. ETG is a busy well-established groundworks contractor based near Droitwich, Worcestershire.

The successful candidate must have extensive experience with all forms of construction machinery and tools and have experience of managing a small team. Due to the nature of the business the candidate must have a dynamic approach to problem solving and be able to think on their feet. The role requires a level of autonomy however the candidate will be working in proximity with the director.

The main responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive and the candidate will be expected to grow and adapt with in their role depending on the needs of the business.

Asset management



Ensure and identify that all plant, vehicles and tools are maintained to a high level to ensure health and safety is at the forefront of the business. Oversee servicing, maintenance and repair schedules for all the company assets. Liaise with external and internal contractors to ensure all MOT's, repairs and services are carried out in accordance with required deadlines. Ensure all vehicles are covered by the correct level of insurance, are fitted with trackers and have a fuel card. Manage asset register, service records, and compliance (MOT's, LOLWER & PUWER and Tax) Ensure the asset management software (HILTI on!Track) is updated (daily) and assets are tracked. Carry out checks pre-site and off-site checks to ensure all damages are accounted for and repaired. Working in conjunction with the director handle the procurement, purchase and disposal of equipment. Ensure all the correct documentation is sent to site. External hire - minimise the requirement of external plant hire through efficient asset management. When required fully manage external plant hire requirements and ensure the equipment is maintained to reduce damage charges and off hired in a timely manner. Carry out site audits when required.

Financial



Ensure all financial impacts are considered and any repairs, purchases and other associated costs are competitive. Check and monitor all invoices relating to your department. Query where required and liaise with accounts department when required. Internal plant and transports costs. Working with the business support department ensure that all assets are costed correctly for internal project costings.

Transport and Logistics



Orchestrate all asset and material movements in an efficient manor, by planning routes, scheduling deliveries liaising with the operations and the procurement department. Oversee and manage the company HGV Driver, organise their schedule and ensure they work in accordance with driver hours. Responsibility for the logistics of all assets ensuring that they arrive safely and in a timely manner. Adhere to operator's license, HGV regulations Ensure all the required permits are obtained where necessary.

Yard Management



Responsible for the daily management of the yard ensuring it is kept organised and safe. Working alongside the procurement department to manage yard materials, fuel stocks, PPE and consumables. Oversee and manage the company Yard Assistant / Driver, organise their schedule.

General Requirements



Previous proven experience in a similar role (Minimum 5 years) In depth knowledge of plant, tool and vehicles required. Strong knowledge of transport legislation and HGV regulations. Stronger leadership, communication and organisational skills. Ability to work autonomy, manage multiple priorities and solve complex problem. Proactive attitude to problem solving High attention to detail Computer efficient HGV and trailer license (desirable)
This is a full-time on-site position.

50,000 plus depending on the candidate

35 days annual leave (including 8 days statutory)

Based on 47.5 hours per week (Working hours to be agreed usually 7am - 5pm)
