We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Playgroup Assistant to join our team to support children aged 2 years 10 months- 4 years. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable and caring. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations, ensuring a fun, safe and educational environment for children, and fostering effective communication with parents and staff. The hours are term time. Monday 8:30- 14:00, Tuesday 8.30-12:30, Wednesday 8:30 to 13:00 Thursday 8:30-12:30 and Friday 8:30-13:00.
(No weekends and off school holidays)
Duties
Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate play and learning activities
Help set up and pack away toys, equipment, and resources before and after sessions
Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety and well-being
Promote positive behavior and social interaction among children
Assist with snacks, toileting, and hygiene routines as required
Maintain a clean and tidy play environment
Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
Observe and record children's development in line with early years curriculum
Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times
Participate in team meetings and relevant training opportunities
Experience
6 months previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare environment is essential.
A caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of child development and early years development
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practices
Ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
NVQ 3 in childcare or equivalent preferred. NVQ 2 in childcare will also be considered if alongside experience.
If applicant holds no specific childcare qualifications they will be considered for interview, however on commencement of job role individual will be committed to complete childcare qualification within one year
