About the Role


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Practice Manager to lead the operational management of our small, friendly Emis web GP practice in Sheffield. This part-time role (24 hours per week, starting pay 32000 pro rata) offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a leadership position within primary care. You will work closely with the GP Partner to ensure smooth practice operations, deliver excellent patient care, and foster a positive, supportive environment for the whole team.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee daily operations, ensuring staff fulfil their roles effectively Manage clinical and administrative teams, including recruitment and job descriptions Administer service contracts (e.g. cleaning, gardening) and lead continuous improvement initiatives Review and update practice policies and develop a business resilience plan Manage finances and support QOF target achievement Coordinate meetings and maintain the practice diary Represent the practice externally and liaise with NHS, ICB, community services, suppliers, and other stakeholders Handle complaints, disciplinary matters, and ensure legal compliance Oversee premises management, health & safety, mandatory training, IT systems, data security, and information governance Lead internal projects, maintain the practice website, and deputise for the GP when required Produce quarterly newsletters and manage the Patient Participation Group

About Us


We are a small, welcoming GP surgery with approximately 2,400 patients. Our team comprises a GP Partner, Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, secretary, four reception staff, and a Practice Manager. Located on Barnsley Road near the Northern General Hospital, we offer free parking and are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, patient-centred care in line with NHS standards.

What We're Looking For



Proven management experience, preferably within healthcare or GP practice Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities Sound knowledge of NHS systems, CQC standards, HR best practices, and IT proficiency Leadership/management qualification, accounting skills including budgeting and forecasting Experience in performance management, workforce planning, and health & safety Ability to work flexibly, including outside core hours, and hold a full UK driving licence

Additional Requirements



Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

Desirable



AMSPAR qualification or degree-level education in healthcare/business NHS or GP practice experience
Experience with multidisciplinary teams and meeting facilitation
