About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient Operator to join our Pre-Press team and help us continue our impressive level of service to our clients.
The main role of this position is to check that files have been supplied correctly, according to the relevant artwork service. A technical understanding and a good eye for detail are crucial and although the role isn't directly a graphic design position, there maybe an opportunity for some level of design, typography and amendments to customer files.

Key Responsibilities
File Preparation
Ensuring print ready files are complete, formatted correctly, and meet specific printing requirements including size, colour separation and bleed. This can also include, if necessary, ensuring that Visa and Mastercard rules are followed.
Layout and Typography (Virtual Card Proofs):
Working with desktop publishing software (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator) to create accurate Virtual Card Proof layouts. These layouts will be for customer approval, to give them an idea of what the final personalised card will look like.
Collaboration:
Working closely with designers, clients, account handlers and production teams to ensure a smooth workflow.
Submitting Proofs:
Submitting proofs to Customers, FSC, Visa, Mastercard and potential other schemes.
Quality Control and Troubleshooting:
Checking for errors, inconsistencies, and ensuring the final output meets quality standards. Addressing file issues and resolving problems that arise during the prepress process.
Processing, Imposing and Platemaking:
Making sure the appropriate trapping is applied to files either manually or through Kodak Prinergy Workflow. Imposing artwork correctly using Kodak Preps and checked thoroughly before making plates and signing over to printers
Equipment Maintenance:
There will be some responsibility for maintaining and calibrating prepress equipment. Liaising with engineers and plate suppliers.
Training:
A certain amount of training will be given to the right candidate if required.
About you:
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years' experience within a pre-press environment. Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop. They also must have a good knowledge of pre-press workflows, imposition software, colour separations and trapping.
