Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE

The post holder will work as a member of a team to ensure the day to day running of each playgroup session is delivered to a high standard, promoting safe and stimulating play meeting each child's assessed individual needs.

This will involve planning, preparing and delivering play based activities appropriate for children aged 3-4 years old.

To participate in short, medium and long term planning for each group, meeting the individual needs of the group To carry out individual (child-centred) assessments, develop individual educational plans and ensure regular monitoring and review in keeping with the assessed individual needs. To support the Leader with the management role, identifying individual staff training needs, and assist in the identification of service development needs. To promote Dromore Community Playgroup in the wider community participating in the development of it's services.
RESPONSIBILTIES

Provide safe, stimulating group play to meet the social, linguistic, creative, physical, imaginative, emotional needs of each child. Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the Playgroup. Organise and manage appropriate learning environment and resources. Select and prepare resources to take account of the children's interests, language and cultural background. Assist the leader in managing liaison with parents and other relevant bodies to gather the necessary information, for Health Visitors, Social services and auditors to ensure that the playgroup is satisfying all the necessary legal and statutory requirements Plan appropriate play-based activities for individual children, taking account of guidance from the Early Years Specialist. Monitor, evaluate and adjust individual plans as appropriate as the children reach their next stage in their development. Assist the leader in managing record keeping systems and processes and record progress and achievements in activities systematically and providing evidence of range and level of progress and attainment. Take responsibility for the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies appropriate for the age and ability of the children in the group.

Encourage and enable parental involvement in the group Take time to listen and respond to children and encourage them to develop Comply with and assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns to an appropriate person. Participate in regular team meetings with managed staff and hold meetings in the event of Leader's absence Undertake induction/appraisal/training/mentoring for other Playgroup Assistants where required Represent your Playgroup at management/other meetings when required. Assist the leader in dealing with visitors to the group where required. Undertake continuous professional development (in order to improve outcomes for the children) to improve knowledge and skills. Ensure that there are good standards of hygiene and that equipment is safe and regularly checked for repair. Assisting the leader in being responsible for keeping up - to -date records as stipulated by social services and the Department of Education and adhere to the social services registration regulations. Take part in and help with the organisation of special events, outings and visits. To participate in the children's individual progress report meeting, ensuring the involvement of parents/guardian in assessments, individual educational plans as required and seek their feedback and views with regards to the playgroup and any area of unmet need. To respond to complaints in accordance with the Dromore Community Playgroup policy and procedures and to assist the Leader and the Management Committee in investigation and resolution as required. A knowledge of GDPR regulations and processes.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 21,000.00-23,000.00 per year
