Job Overview
We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for childcare and possess strong leadership skills.
Main duties of the job are
- To assist the Leader in the smooth running of the Pre-School, which is funded by the Education Authority and also provides Pre Pre-School places.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and colleagues
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, adhering to health & safety regulations
- Carry out regular observations, which will inform weekly, monthly and yearly planning. Ensure a rich and stimulating curriculum is being offered at all times.
- Setup the playroom each morning and tidy away at the end of each session. Ensure a good standard of hygiene is followed and equipment is regularly checked that it is safe for use
- Plan, prepare and take part in special events, including fundraising, outings, parent workshops
- Work within a rota to lead activities, i.e. story, songs, physical play, etc.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times, in accordance with the settings policy
- Take part in all roles including setting up and tidying the Pre-School environment both indoors and outdoors, cleaning and storing equipment, completing risk assessments, etc.
- Good knowledge of microsoft word
Qualifications & Experience
- QCF Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willing to enrol within one year of commencement of employment
- QCF Level 3 Children's care, learning and development
- 2 years experience in a Preschool setting, Preferably within an EA funded setting
- Knowledge of NI Preschool Curriculum
- Safeguarding & Child Protection, First aid and Food hygiene training or willing to attain
- Ability to communicate fluently in English
