Stepping Stones Pre-school are an established oustanding and well-regarded facility that boasts both a large indoor and outdoor space, including access to a shared forest school area.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and dedicated centre manager to replace our outgoing manager, who we bid a fond farewell to after 17 years. This position offers an opportunity to work with an already motivated team in a dynamic learning environment where passion, energy, and exuberance will be key.
This is a 52 week contract, full time over 4 days with a day off each week.
Knowledge and Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or above
Maths C/4 or above English C/4 or above

Job Purpose
The role of the Centre Manager is to lead a team of Early Years Practitioners to ensure good practice at all times, this involves leading from the floor as well as office based
The Centre Manager will work with Room Leaders to provide leadership and management in supporting the early years, wrap around and holiday club teams.
Ensure that all children receive the highest standard of care and education
Build professional and respectful partnerships with parents and carers, involving them in their child's learning journey.
Maintain effective communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and pre-school activities.
Work within all statutory guidelines
Job Role: Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Education
Promote high standards of quality within the Centre in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children
Ensure that all children receive a rich and stimulating experience appropriate to their age and stage of development
Ensure that practice and provision meets the requirements of the EYFS
Ensure that children are kept safe and the staff understand and when necessary following Safeguarding Procedures and Policies
Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents and the Management Committee
Support the development of good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion
Support the Early Years Team in delivering the EYFS and ensure that provision meets the requirements of Ofsted and the EYA in relation to nursery education and grant funding for all children.
Establish and maintain highly professional working relationships with the relevant authority regulating bodies and other agencies
Health and Safety
To manage the Health and Safety requirement that the Centre is a safe environment, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times, and fire drills are regularly practised.
Be fully aware and implement all emergency and security procedures
Be responsible for ensuring the Centre remains compliant in respect of adult and child ratios and the suitably trained staff with relevant first aid qualifications
Admin, Record Keeping & Operations
Work alongside the Business Manager in managing staff costs, petty cash and other budgets that are used
To ensure that accurate and up-to-date record keeping systems are in place e.g. children's records of progress and any behavioural and development reports, any safeguarding issues, health and safety issues, notes taken at staff supervision meetings, details of targets set and of any performance concerns discussed.
Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the Centre.
Operational
The Centre Manager will be the Nominated person with Ofsted and a member of the Voluntary Management Committee.
Ensure day to day management of the Centre
The Centre will ensure all training is carried out for individuals and the team.
Manage staff during inspections by regulatory bodies and assist in the implementation of any recommendations
Work with the Business Manager in delivering agreed occupancy targets
Staff
Manage the recruitment and induction procedure of all staff
Manage, supervise, train and appraise staff to ensure delivery of high quality childcare practice
Identify training needs and develop training plans and evaluate training undertaken
Work with the Business Manager and Management Committee in disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings
Develop open and positive working relationships with all the Early Years, Wrap around and Holiday club teams
Marketing and Customer Care
Proactively represent the company (Stepping Stones) and advance its interests in the local community
Promote the Centre in a proactive way to current parents and potential customers
Ensure that all the Early Years Team develop and maintain a friendly and professional relationship with parents
Work with the Business Manager in ensuring that any complaints or concerns are actively resolved in a timely manner
General
Work alongside the Business Manager with administrative duties associated with the management of the Centre, such as maintaining children's records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventories and keeping up to date assessments
Adhere to all the company policies and procedures
Ensure that the general maintenance of the premises are maintained
Maintain effective methods of communication with children, staff, parents and carers
Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that required standards are delivered and maintained
