We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic prescription clerk to join our great pharmacy team of two prescribing pharmacists, one non prescribing pharmacist, two pharmacy technicians and three prescription clerks, to work in house at Haslemere Health Centre. This role comes with training and support so no experience necessary but it would be ideal if you had some background knowledge on primary care and prescription management.

Monday : 08.30 to 18.00

Main duties of the job
You will act as a focal point of prescription and medication communication between clinical and non clinical staff, patients and pharmacies, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients' repeat medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery.

Job responsibilities
To process, all medication requests sent in by patients using the repeat prescribing and controlled drug protocols in place.
To issue repeat medication requests from a variety of sources including (but not exclusively) the prescription email, pharmacies, tasks, online via NHS app or practice website, post and post box in pharmacy/reception area.
To liaise with patients and pharmacies regarding prescription queries and requests.
To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the repeat prescribing and controlled drug protocols which are already in place.
To ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly. This includes answering the telephone and hatch in a timely manner.
To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP, practice pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
To ensure that the tasks sent by practice staff are carried out in order to improve patient safety.
To ensure safe custody of prescription paper including to make sure prescriptions are locked away securely at the end of the day.
To regularly go through prescriptions 'not picked up' and 'unlikely to be picked up' as a result of the timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription in line with the current practice protocols.
To run the medication reauthorisation tool when required and request for patient to come in for the relevant test or review as appropriate.
To highlight to the GP/pharmacist/pharmacy technician when you have a concern over a patients medication e.g. over/under ordering.
