Role Summary



The Product Director is responsible for setting and delivering the strategic vision for Furniturebox's product offering across all categories. This role oversees the entire product lifecycle--from concept, sourcing and onboarding, through to commercial performance, quality assurance, and compliance. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Product Director will lead the Buying, Quality, Sourcing, Merchandising/Purchasing and Compliance areas of the business to build an innovative, commercially powerful, and operationally scalable product assortment that supports global growth.

Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)



Product Vision & Strategy



High level accountability for the long-term product vision and seasonal product direction in line with brand goals, customer needs, and market opportunity. Lead product development/sourcing strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives across new ranges and core continuity lines. Champion a data-led, customer-first approach to building the range. Global accountability for all product categories and ranges Furniturebox produce

Commercial & Performance Management



Own the commercial performance of all products from margin through to sell-through and lifecycle. Work closely with the purchasing team to ensure stock availability and correct order quantities on new ranges. Collaborate with Finance and Operational Teams to manage budgets, inventory investment, and critical path planning. Lead product innovation and exclusivity strategies that differentiate the brand in the marketplace. Analyse sales data, to optimise category performance, and profitable margin across areas and ensure delivery of budget of all trading KPIs Directly support forecasting, allocation and trading cadence to ensure inventory agility and sales optimisation across all channels across seasons and promotional periods.

Team Leadership & Organisational Development



Be the director lead and manager for all product departments including product, compliance, quality and overseas product teams Build a high-performing, collaborative team culture that supports creativity, accountability, and professional development. Set clear KPIs and objectives across departments, ensuring alignment with business targets. Have a detailed understanding of the company's long-term strategy and ensure department plans are fully aligned with this

Global Sourcing & Supplier Strategy



Develop and oversee the global sourcing framework to support scale, cost efficiency, and speed to market. Establish long-term supplier partnerships that support sustainability, ethical trading, and innovation. Mitigate risk across the supply chain by ensuring robust onboarding and auditing processes. Nurture and build on long standing supplier relationships globally Lead a global and agile sourcing strategy based on ever changing macroeconomic factors

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management



Have accountability on the product compliance strategy, ensuring all items meet safety, legal, and quality standards for UK, US, and future markets. Partner with Compliance to proactively manage regulatory requirements and product testing protocols. Maintain a customer-first lens on product performance, driving continuous improvement in quality and satisfaction. Be accountable for ensuring products are developed and produced to the highest quality standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with Marketing, E-commerce, Design, Operations, and Customer Experience to bring productto life and align product, content and commercial goals across all customer touchpoints. Collaborate with Logistics on critical path management, freight optimization, and warehouse strategy for furniture ranges. Align with brand and creative teams to ensure product stories and visual merchandising reinforce Furniturebox's design-led ethos.

What do we need from you?



Required Skills & Experience:



10+ years of experience in senior product, buying, or merchandising roles within furniture or home categories. Strong commercial acumen and experience managing product P&L across multiple markets. Proven success leading cross-functional product teams, including Buying, Merchandising/Purchasing, Sourcing, and QA & Compliance. Deep knowledge of furniture materials, manufacturing, and design trends across UK and international markets. Experienced in negotiating high-value commercial agreements and managing complex supply chains. Inspiring leadership and management style to deliver industry-leading results Exceptional organisational skills to ensure timelines are met Fantastic critical thinking skills to overcome obstacles and a can-do attitude Highly competent multitasker, able to pivot quickly based on evolving market trends or global shifts in trade Sound understanding of all elements of furniture product lifecycle 5+ years of global factory visits and experience on product manufacture Willingness to challenge the conventional norms within the industry and embrace change

Preferred Qualifications:



Degree in Product Management, Buying, Business, or related field. Experience with expansion into new markets (e.g. US) and relevant compliance standards. Familiarity with PLM systems and advanced Excel/analytics capabilities. Passionate about product, detail-obsessed, and highly strategic. Experience of managing both the B2C and B2B furniture industry
