General Dynamics Mission Systems in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide a wide range of Avionic Mission Computing Systems for a wide range Military Fast Jets, Helicopters and UAV\xe2\x80\x99s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and weapon systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.



As a Production Engineer you will support all aspects of manufacturing documentation including work instructions and change management. You will help develop the most efficient assembly methods and process flows using people, parts and tooling. You will work closely with other functional departments, particularly Production, Quality & Design Engineering, to help maintain and improve quality, cost and delivery performance.

This position, would allow you to play an important role in our dynamic and innovative Manufacturing Team, working on the assembly of avionics systems along with land based armoured vehicle communication systems.

Activities will include:

  • Raising assembly work instructions and product tracking documentation.
  • Contributing to the Build Definition Process, considering assembly methods, process steps and product routings
  • Interpreting complex technical drawings and translating them into user friendly step by step build instructions for shop-floor operatives.
  • Identifing tooling, fixtures and special processes for existing and new products.
  • Acting as a point of contact for the resolution of manufacturing and process issues.
  • Feedback issues and possible solutions to the Design Authority.
  • Contributing to \xe2\x80\x98Lean and Continuous Improvement\xe2\x80\x99 initiatives throughout manufacturing
You will need to be a good team player, but also, be able to show initiative if working individually.

Qualifications

Ideally you will demonstrate:
  • Experience of writing work instructions, product routing and understanding technical drawings.
  • Formal training in the use and deployment of Lean Toolsets.
  • Ability to assist on regulatory or standards audits when required.
  • Ability to act and make decisions upon your own initiative.
  • Excellent capacity for problem solving combined with report writing skills.
  • Capability of working on numerous tasks in parallel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office toolset (Word, Excel).
  • Ideally requires minimum of HNC level education or equivalent.
  • Experience in a Production Engineering role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in electronic and wire harness assembly is desirable

This role of Production Engineer has a salary up to \xc2\xa332,000 dependant upon experience and an attractive flexible benefits package.
