The company is currently looking for a Production Manager. As a key part of our operation, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our manufacturing activities, ensuring that production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage a team of 8 supervisors and approximately 35 production staff, providing leadership, structure, and clear direction across all machining and assembly areas. This role will involve close coordination with other departments to ensure smooth workflow, accurate scheduling, and timely delivery of customer orders. You will play an active role in developing the team, strengthening processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement within a growing and evolving business that produces precision-machined components. The position requires a strong engineering mindset, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across all areas of production
The Role:
Lead and manage daily production operations across multiple machining areas
Plan, schedule, and prioritise workloads to meet customer demand and delivery commitments
Monitor performance and introduce process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
Ensure all quality standards are met in line with ISO9001:2015 and internal procedures
Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, purchasing, and other departments to resolve production issues
Maintain regular communication with customers and suppliers as required
Support and develop team members through coaching, training, and performance guidance
Maintain accurate production data, including output, downtime, scrap, and KPIs
Ensure a clean, safe, well-organised workplace and promote strong health and safety practices
Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of ERP systems (ideally Sage/CIM200)
Strong computer literacy, including confident use of Microsoft Excel
Previous experience in a production management or supervisory role within engineering or manufacturing
Good understanding of machining or precision-manufacturing processes
Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO9001:2015
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, hands-on approach
Ability to work collaboratively across departments
A positive, can-do attitude and a continuous-improvement mindset
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including grinding, milling, and turning
Additional Information:
Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5.00pm.
Friday 08:30am - 14:00pm.
5 weeks annual leave (includes Christmas Shutdown).
