To manage staff (currently 5) and help produce & pack award winning chutneys, jams, curds and marmalades from raw prepared ingredients. This job involves motivating the staff and ensuring the work gets done in a safe and quality orientated manner at the best speed possible. You will need learn all roles within the factory and be prepared to step in and help in whichever department needs it most and you must ensure that no one is asked to perform any task for which training has not been adequate. You must ensure the factory runs to its SALSA quality system.
Responsibilities
To help create and follow company procedures in terms of food safety & quality and to ensure a healthy & safe working environment
To help plan the production program, ensuring all raw materials are in place
To prepare for the days production by ensuring all staff have checked that their machinery etc is turned on and in good working order
To organize the days schedule, review the order of production & direct staff accordingly.
To take team responsibility for producing fantastic products to meet the company's high bar for quality
To keep working areas clean and safe
To help around the factory in whatever department needs that support
To ask the Production director for help and support where needed
To be flexible in attitude
To be polite and build relationships with everyone on site and anyone visiting the site
To report problems that you are unable to deal with to the Production Director
To maintain and update as necessary the SALSA accreditation & HACCP systems
To ensure all policies and procedures are followed and paperwork is accurately and legibly completed to the SALSA standard, which is audited annually
To collate production paperwork and keep accurate records and files
Experience
Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a managerial capacity.
A minimum level of level 2 basic food hygiene & HACCP is required for this role, the company can provide this training if not already in place. Experience/Knowledge of SALSA or BRC systems desirable.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to machinery operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Experience in quality control processes and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams towards operational excellence.
Experience of forklift driving ideal although training will be provided if not
