Having secured a unique and exciting 36m new build project, we are now looking for a Production Manager to be based at our site in Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and performance of the production department. This includes leadership and oversight of Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, Painting, Fabrication, QA and Outfitting teams. The role ensures that all production activities meet company objectives for safety, quality, schedule and cost, while driving continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership across all production disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, Painting, Fabrication, QA, and Outfitting.
Oversee production scheduling and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of manpower, equipment, and materials.
Manage day-to-day production performance to achieve output targets, maintain quality standards, and meet project deadlines.
Ensure technical oversight of production processes, identifying and resolving engineering or design issues as they arise.
Ensure the production teams are informed and aware of project milestones and target dates.
Support and maintain high levels of motivation and morale within the production teams.
Assist in the development of the Quality Assurance (QA) framework to ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
Assist in initiatives for ISO 9001 certification and DNV yard approval.
Drive continuous improvement in product quality, process reliability, and documentation standards.
Ensure staff are suitably qualified, competent and relevant personal certification is valid.
Promote staff development in training and qualifications.
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and delivery commitments.
Prepare and present production performance reports, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Ensure timely reporting and updating of the yard's project administration system is maintained by the team supervisors.
Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication between production, design, engineering, procurement, and management teams.
Work closely with Finance to support budgeting, cost control, and forecasting for production operations.
Oversee procurement and stores to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
Actively promote and facilitate cross trade communication.
Additional Information
Minimum of 40 hours of work per week. During busy periods there may be some weekend working.
