About the role




Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, the Production Manager's role is to effectively manage People, Product, Plant, Planning and Performance, all of which will be coordinated and managed across Production, Warehouse and H&S activities. The role holder will mentor, support and develop the production & warehouse management team.


The Production Manager will be the driver of H&S, Food Safety & Product Quality, Process compliance, Continuous Improvement, Cost Control & Cost Reduction for the end-to-end site operation.


This role plays a critical part in driving continuous improvement, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring readiness for both internal and external audits.

Requirements



Health & Safety



Improve the safety performance of the department by addressing physical issues while promoting a positive safety culture/attitude among staff. Encourage and drive incident reporting at target levels. Ensure Health and Safety requirements are met in accordance with company policy, procedures, practices, and legislation. Monitor and drive improvements against Health & Safety KPIs.

Food Safety, Hygiene & Quality



Ensure food safety, legality, and quality requirements are met. Maintain and improve hygiene, food safety, and GMP of the department. Ensure product quality standards are consistently achieved. Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are relevant, up to date, and in use.

Management & Leadership



Responsible for the management and coordination of departmental operations. Effectively deliver excellent communications and team engagement. Coach production management and supervision in the planning and scheduling of production. Develop and nurture skills development, training, and manage skills and competency records throughout production. Manage area headcount, grades and budget spend. Lead department projects and initiatives.

Business Performance & Operations



Manage the department to minimise cost through effective utilisation of manpower, materials, and equipment. Monitor/manage performance against set KPIs, Overheads and Scorecard matrix. Work across the operation team to deliver improvements against budget in downtime, efficiency, yield, quality, Health & Safety, and absence & holiday management Formulate business continuity plans within the production function. Manage area headcount and budget spends.

Continuous Improvement (CI)



Support and drive root cause problem solving and Continuous Improvement activities (5S, Six Sigma, SMED). Coordinate and control the manufacturing processes to maximize product quality and output. Support and drive the Macphie PDR process across all levels within department.

Data Protection & Compliance



Ensure all internal and external data protection requirements are strictly adhered to within your area of responsibility. Report any observed or direct breaches of data protection following the correct company protocol.
