Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive factory experience, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. This role involves managing production teams, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing workflow efficiency to meet quality standards and production goals. A background in sheet metal fabrication is highly desirable. The Production Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, productive, and organized manufacturing environment.

About the company

A sheet metal fabrication company operating in Worthing west Sussex for over 36 years, supplying to customers nationwide across the UK. We specialize in laser cutting, CNC punching, folding, welding and general assembly works working with aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel in thicknesses up to 20mm thick, however most projects are between 0.9mm to 4mm thick. Projects sizes vary from prototypes to larger scale production runs.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily production activities on the factory floor to ensure smooth operations and adherence to production schedules. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote best practices for workplace safety across all departments. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with office staff to ensure timely availability of materials and supplies. Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment; coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed with mechanical teams.

Requirements

Proven experience in manufacturing or factory management within a manufacturing facility environment. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other industrial equipment. Prior experience managing assembly lines or production teams in a manufacturing setting. Knowledge of safety standards related to manufacturing operations; ability to enforce safety policies effectively. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Able to read and understand manufacturing drawings. Good knowledge of materials such as Aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel.
